The Data Request Service is an application based on Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) designed to enable browsing and exchange of data through the internet, both raster and vector data can be displayed and this can be done without having to purchase an Internet Map Server. With this technique the user is able to view the dataset of interest and indicate on the attached order form which data s/he would like to order, in what coordinate system, the output format etc. The technique has been designed such that the order is send to the GIS Unit where an acknowledgement will be made and an order redirected to the relevant organization.
