NGCC-National GIS Coordination Committee

The National GIS Coordination Committee(NGCC) was established in November 2002 and is responsible for the development of a Spatial Data Infrastructure(NSDI) for Botswana. The mission of the NGCC is to support the development, implementation and maintenance of the SDI. It is the forum for discussions for agreements on policies and strategies concerning geographic data and information
The NSDI is developed to have coordination between all GIS stakeholders (producers and users) and to have standardised ways of managing geographic information in order to increase exchange and sharing of data and decrease dubble efforts in production.
NGCC consist of organisations from the Government, Para-Statals and Academia.

The NGCC has agreed on a Vision:
------------------------------------------------------------------
"We will have a fully-fledged National Spatial Data Infrastructure for Botswana. It will be easy to find, access and integrate geographic data from different sources in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of governance and provide new business opportunities."
